135th Edition of IndianOil Durand Cup Set to Kick Off in 2026
Overview of the Upcoming Durand Cup
The IndianOil Durand Cup is gearing up for its historic 135th edition, scheduled to take place from July 25 to August 23, 2026. Recognized as Asia's oldest football tournament and the third-oldest globally, this prestigious event will showcase 24 teams, including two international squads, across five cities.
This year's matches will unfold in Kolkata, Ranchi, Guwahati, Imphal, and Shillong, with Ranchi hosting for the first time. The games will be held at six venues: Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan and Kishore Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata, Birsa Munda Stadium in Ranchi, Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati, Khuman Lampak Stadium in Imphal, and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong.
The Eastern Command of the Indian Army organizes the Durand Cup on behalf of the three Services. Since its relocation to eastern India in 2019, the tournament has seen significant growth, expanding from 16 to 24 teams. It uniquely combines teams from the Services, prominent Indian clubs, and international competitors.
Historically, the competition has been a vital platform for budding football talent, allowing young athletes and developing clubs to face off against some of the nation's top teams, thereby gaining essential experience.
Further information regarding the teams, groupings, match schedules, and knockout phases will be revealed in due course.
The tournament will culminate on August 23, with the champions lifting the prestigious Durand Cup trophy. Defending champions NorthEast United FC will strive to secure their title once again.
