How to Play Quordle

For newcomers, here’s how to play Quordle: simply start typing words. You need to guess four five-letter words within nine attempts. The key is to work on all four words at the same time.

The Origin of Quordle

Quordle was created by Freddie Meyer in 2022, inspired by both Wordle and Dordle. The game was later acquired by Merriam-Webster in January 2023.

Initially, engineer David Mah developed the prototype for Quordle, which was subsequently refined by Freddie Meyer. Drawing from Dordle, where players solve two grids at once, Quordle was launched in February 2022 and quickly gained popularity, attracting over a million players within weeks.

Merriam-Webster purchased Quordle in January 2023 for an undisclosed amount, with company president Greg Barlow noting that the game was a favorite among employees and would enhance their game offerings.
