Details about Apple's next-generation iPhone 16 series have started hitting the web. The Cupertino-based tech giant announced the latest generation iPhone 15 series last month. So, it's too early to take leaks and rumors about next year's iPhones seriously. In a new development, a report from Economic News Daily sheds some light on the iPhone 16 Pro's telephoto camera.

The iPhone 16 Pro may adopt molded glass for the camera lens
According to the report, Largan will produce a telephoto lens specifically for the iPhone 16 Pro. The camera lens will sport molded glass which is said to be thinner and lighter than conventional glass. This protruding camera will potentially help reduce the thickness of the bump and also shed some weight. It will also provide better expansion distance. The report adds that molded glass lenses will be included on both the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max. Due to their inherent complexity, the company is already gearing up for next year's Pro models and hog the supply chain with orders.

A previous report revealed that the iPhone 16 Pro could adopt the tetraprism telephoto lens found on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. This lens is complicated and also made by Largan. It offers a long focal length and optical zoom capability without bulking up the phone. This is where the latest development of molded glass lenses comes in due to their thin and light nature. They also pack more expandability into a smaller package.

This also means that the iPhone 15 Pro Max's 120mm zoom lens capability will carry over to the iPhone 16 Pro, putting it on par with the Pro Max model. It remains to be seen whether the Cupertino-based tech giant will stick to the 24mm and 120mm focal lengths while using thinner lengths.
