IBM Launches Initiative to Train 5 Million in Advanced Technologies in India

New Delhi, Dec 19: On Friday, IBM unveiled an ambitious plan to enhance skill development in India, aiming to equip 5 million individuals with expertise in cutting-edge technologies like Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, and quantum computing by the year 2030.
This initiative will be implemented through IBM SkillsBuild, focusing on fostering a workforce prepared for the future by enhancing access to digital and job-oriented skills for both students and adult learners nationwide.
IBM emphasized that the program is designed to make education in advanced technologies more inclusive and widely available.
As part of this initiative, the company plans to broaden AI and emerging technology education within schools, universities, and vocational training frameworks.
IBM will collaborate closely with organizations such as the All India Council for Technical Education to promote practical learning through AI-centric courses, faculty training initiatives, curriculum integration, hackathons, and internship opportunities.
Arvind Krishna, IBM's Chairman, President, and CEO, stated that India has the potential and ambition to emerge as a global leader in AI and quantum technologies.
He remarked, 'India has the talent and ambition to lead the world in AI & Quantum. Mastery of advanced technologies will shape economic competitiveness, scientific advancement, and societal change.'
'By making advanced skills accessible to all, we empower youth and students to innovate and drive India's growth,' he added.
IBM is also enhancing AI education at the school level by co-developing an AI curriculum for senior secondary students and supplying teaching materials such as an AI Project Cookbook, a teacher's guide, and explanatory modules.
These initiatives aim to introduce computational thinking and responsible AI principles early on, assisting educators in effectively delivering AI education.
Central to this initiative is IBM SkillsBuild, recognized as one of the largest and most accessible digital learning platforms globally.
It provides over 1,000 courses that encompass AI, cybersecurity, quantum computing, cloud computing, data management, sustainability, and essential workplace skills.
