The Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) spokesperson, Sanjeev Gandhi, has commended the Sukhu Government for its focus on governance that prioritizes the needs of the populace. He emphasized that the recent actions taken by the government reflect a genuine commitment to providing real benefits rather than just making announcements.

Healthcare Initiatives Highlighted

During a media briefing, Gandhi pointed out that the decisions made by the state government showcase Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s attentiveness to public concerns. He mentioned that the administration is dedicated to enhancing healthcare services while also offering financial support to employees through effective policy measures.

Gandhi underscored the government's dedication to making healthcare affordable and accessible, especially for economically disadvantaged families. Key initiatives include the establishment of automated laboratory facilities in medical colleges, with an investment of approximately ₹28-30 crore, and the expansion of MRI and advanced diagnostic services to areas beyond major medical institutions. He noted that district and zonal hospitals are being fortified under the Adarsh Swasthya Sansthan initiative to enhance specialist healthcare services closer to residents.

These initiatives aim to boost diagnostic capabilities, increase the availability of specialists, and improve the overall quality of treatment in public healthcare facilities, thereby reducing reliance on expensive private healthcare options.

Support for Government Employees

Gandhi also expressed approval for the government's recent decisions regarding employee welfare, referring to government employees as essential to the state's administrative framework. He highlighted the recent increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) by 5 percent, raising it from 45 percent to 50 percent. This adjustment will be reflected in the October 2026 salary, which is set to be distributed in November.

Additionally, regular Class-IV employees will receive an extra ₹10,000 in November as part of their pending pay-revision arrears. Gandhi stated that this decision acknowledges the significant contributions of employees in executing development programs and providing public services throughout the state.

The DA increase will be applicable from July 1, 2023, and January 1, 2024, offering substantial financial assistance to employees and their families, particularly during the festive season.

Governance Focused on Action

Gandhi emphasized that the significance of these decisions lies in the government's comprehensive approach to governance. While healthcare reforms directly cater to the needs of patients and their families, employee welfare measures provide financial relief and acknowledge the vital role of public servants in the state's development.

He remarked that the government is committed to these priorities despite facing financial hurdles, maintaining a focus on enhancing public services, bolstering social welfare, and ensuring governance is responsive to the needs of the people.

“The true measure of any government is its capacity to comprehend and address the concerns of its citizens. The ongoing decisions made by the Sukhu Government regarding healthcare and employee welfare illustrate its intention to provide real benefits rather than relying on political rhetoric,” Gandhi stated.

He concluded by asserting that the government's approach conveys a clear message of prioritizing public welfare over political theatrics, action over empty words, and accountable governance over hollow promises.
