Celebrating Global Cricket Achievements


Dubai: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the winners of the 2024 ICC Development Awards, recognizing excellence across seven categories.


Initiated in 2002, these awards honor the creativity and efforts of Associate Members who are pivotal in promoting cricket globally.


This year, the awards feature seven categories, including the newly introduced ICC X Festival of the Year. The nations of Bhutan, Indonesia, Namibia, Nepal, Scotland, Tanzania, the USA, and Vanuatu have been acknowledged for their remarkable contributions.


ICC Development Initiative of the Year: Cricket Namibia has been awarded for its Ashburton Kwata Mini-Cricket Programme, which is crucial for grassroots development and has been integrated into public school physical education, reaching thousands of students across 14 regions.


ICC Female Cricket Initiative of the Year: Both the Bhutan Cricket Council Board and the Vanuatu Cricket Association have been recognized. Bhutan's initiative focuses on an Inter-School Girls’ Competition to enhance female participation, while Vanuatu's 'Picking Wickets' program combines coaching with seasonal fruit-picking jobs in Australia.


ICC Associate Member Men’s Performance of the Year: USA Cricket earned this title for their impressive performance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, where they reached the Super Eight stage, showcasing cricket to a wider American audience.


ICC Associate Member Women’s Performance of the Year: Cricket Scotland was honored for its achievements, particularly for qualifying for the Women’s T20 World Cup for the first time, with Captain Kathryn Bryce being named Player of the Tournament.


ICC Digital Fan Engagement of the Year: The Cricket Association of Nepal's strategic social media expansion led to a significant increase in followers and engagement, reaching approximately 117 million people.


Cricket 4 Good Social Impact Initiative of the Year: Persatuan Cricket Indonesia was recognized for its 'Cricket for Confidence' initiative, empowering schoolgirls in remote areas through cricket.


ICC X Festival of the Year: The Tanzania Cricket Association received this award for their Cricket Festival in Dar es Salaam, which united 120 women in a day of cricket and camaraderie.


Jay Shah, the ICC Chair, praised the winners, highlighting the significance of these awards in showcasing the growth of cricket in emerging nations. He expressed his excitement for the future of these initiatives as they continue to thrive.
