Celestial Wonder: Venus and the Moon Dazzle Odisha's Night Sky

A Stunning Astronomical Display in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: On Monday evening, stargazers in Bhubaneswar and various regions of Odisha were treated to a breathtaking view as the luminous planet Venus appeared alongside the Moon on the horizon, creating a captivating visual display.

This astronomical phenomenon featured a lunar occultation of Venus, where the Moon obscured Venus from the Earth's viewpoint, temporarily concealing the bright planet.

As per Indian Standard Time, the occultation commenced between 5:20 PM and 5:30 PM, lasting until approximately 6:41 PM to 6:45 PM. During this interval, Venus vanished behind the Moon before reappearing from its illuminated edge.

Post 6:45 PM, Venus became visible again, closely positioned next to the Moon, forming an enchanting conjunction that mesmerized observers. In Bhubaneswar and numerous other locations across Odisha, the Moon and the brilliantly shining Venus appeared strikingly close on the horizon.

Individuals in areas with clear skies relished the celestial display from around 6:45 PM to 7:30 PM, as the bright pairing of Venus and the Moon offered a stunning sight to the naked eye.
