PM Modi's Visit to Odisha

Bhubaneswar: On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Odisha to officially open the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) new data centre and a cybersecurity training institute located in Jatni, Khordha district.

As per the itinerary, PM Modi is expected to land at Bhubaneswar airport at 4:10 PM. Following his arrival, he will take a helicopter to the RBI data centre in Jatni, where he will participate in the inauguration ceremony from 4:45 PM to 5:45 PM. After the event, he plans to return to Bhubaneswar airport by road at 5:50 PM and is scheduled to depart for New Delhi at 6:35 PM.

The newly established data centre, situated on an 18.55-acre site in Info Valley-II near Bhubaneswar, has been designed to fulfill the RBI's computing needs while offering a secure, resilient, and scalable computing environment for the central bank and the wider financial sector.

Additionally, the Prime Minister will inaugurate a cybersecurity training institute aimed at enhancing the technical skills of RBI staff in response to emerging cyber threats.

This institute will serve as a dedicated platform for training, research, and capability development in cybersecurity and enterprise technology, focusing on advanced technologies pertinent to the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sector, such as Quantum Computing and Artificial Intelligence.

It's worth noting that the foundation stone for both the data centre and the cybersecurity training institute was laid by former RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das in March 2023.

This initiative is part of the RBI's broader strategy to bolster its technological framework and improve the security and reliability of its operations.

The establishment of this facility in Odisha is anticipated to enhance the state's appeal as a hub for information technology and data infrastructure investments.

Moreover, this project highlights the increasing significance of secure digital infrastructure in supporting India's growing financial and technology sectors.

In preparation for the Prime Minister's visit, security measures have been heightened in Bhubaneswar and Khordha. The Commissionerate Police has implemented special security arrangements along the route from Jatni to Bhubaneswar airport.
