Electric Vehicle Sales Surge: February Sees 44% Increase in Passenger Cars

February witnessed a remarkable 44% increase in electric passenger vehicle sales, reaching 13,733 units compared to 9,505 units last year. Tata Motors led the market with significant growth, while other manufacturers like Mahindra also saw impressive sales figures. In the two-wheeler segment, sales rose to 111,709 units, with TVS Motor Company leading the charge. However, Ola Electric Mobility faced a notable decline in sales. Significant Growth in Electric Vehicle Sales


New Delhi: In February, the retail sales of electric passenger vehicles experienced a remarkable year-on-year increase of 44%, according to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA).


The total sales reached 13,733 units last month, a significant rise from 9,505 units during the same month last year.


Tata Motors emerged as the market leader with 5,568 units sold, marking a 38.5% increase from 4,020 units in February of the previous year.


JSW MG Motor India reported sales of 3,312 units, a slight decline of 5% compared to 3,490 units sold in February last year.


Mahindra & Mahindra recorded 2,913 units sold last month, a substantial increase from just 508 units in February 2025.


Following them were VinFast Auto and BYD India, with 384 and 306 units sold, respectively.


In the two-wheeler segment, total sales surged to 111,709 units, reflecting a 46% increase from 76,722 units in February 2025.


TVS Motor Company led this category with 31,614 units sold, up from 18,955 units, representing a 67% growth. Bajaj Auto followed with 25,328 units, while Ather Energy contributed 20,584 units.


Hero MotoCorp and Greaves Electric Mobility sold 12,514 and 4,724 units, respectively. However, Ola Electric Mobility saw a significant drop, selling only 3,968 units, down 54% from 8,675 units in February last year.
