In a momentous spiritual declaration, members of The Art of Living Foundation—Mahesh Walia, Dr. Durgesh Thakur, and Suresh Gupta—have announced that sacred remnants linked to the original Somnath Jyotirlinga will arrive in Mandi on April 5 at 3 PM. They characterized this event as a unique and historic chance for spiritual seekers and devotees.

A Legacy of Faith Spanning 1,000 Years

Mahesh Walia elaborated on the remarkable historical journey of these fragments, noting their roots in the destruction of the Somnath temple during Mahmud of Ghazni's invasion in 1026 AD.

"After the assault, Agnihotri Brahmins safeguarded pieces of the Shivling, maintaining their worship for nearly a millennium. These sacred relics were discreetly transported across various regions to ensure their safety through generations," he explained.

He also mentioned that in 1924, the esteemed Kanchi Shankaracharya instructed the custodian family to keep the fragments concealed for a century, preserving their sanctity until the right moment.

Fulfillment of a Prophecy with 2025 Handover

Dr. Durgesh Thakur discussed recent developments, stating that the century-long directive concluded in January 2025, when the last custodian, Sitaram Shastri, officially transferred the preserved fragments to Sri Sri Ravi Shankar at the Art of Living International Center in Bengaluru.

"This event marked the realization of a century-old spiritual mandate. The fragments were unveiled to the public during the Mahashivratri celebrations in 2025, allowing devotees to experience a piece of living history," he remarked.

He added that prior to their final installation, Gurudev plans to take these sacred fragments across the nation for broader public darshan.

Global Spiritual Significance and Scientific Interest

Suresh Gupta emphasized the global relevance of this initiative, which aligns with The Art of Living Foundation's mission, active in over 180 countries, promoting mental wellness, meditation, and a stress-free lifestyle.

"This event transcends mere spirituality; it connects ancient wisdom with contemporary life. Notably, initial studies have indicated that the fragments possess unique non-polarized magnetic properties, adding a layer of scientific intrigue to their spiritual importance," he stated.

Invitation for Public Engagement

The organizers have called upon the public and media to engage actively and raise awareness about this event, describing it as a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity" to witness a sacred legacy that has endured for a thousand years.

A Defining Spiritual Moment for Mandi

With preparations underway, the April 5 event is anticipated to attract considerable participation, establishing Mandi as a pivotal location for spiritual gathering.

As highlighted by the organizers, this occasion goes beyond ritual; it symbolizes resilience, the continuity of faith, and a renewed spiritual awakening that resonates with modern society.
