Sikandar Raza, the captain of Zimbabwe, recognized that his team's fielding and shot selection were significant factors in their 90-run loss to India in the second T20I. He commended the Indian team for their outstanding batting performance.

Raza noted that while Zimbabwe bowled effectively at times, India's batting skills were commendable. He stated, "The boys bowled well in patches, but credit goes to India for their impressive shots and skills displayed during their innings," during the post-match presentation.

Emphasis on Fielding Improvement

The Zimbabwean captain emphasized the need for his team to enhance their fielding, suggesting that better support from fielders could increase pressure on the opposing team. He remarked, "We have been saying for some time that we can improve our fielding, and if the fielders can back the bowlers more effectively, it will add extra pressure on the opposition. However, I don't want to diminish the performance of the Indian batters, which is something we can learn from."

Commendation for Ishan Kishan

Raza also praised Ishan Kishan of India for his significant contribution in the first innings, noting that Kishan is currently in excellent form at the number three position. He commented, "Ishan has been consistently performing well, especially in a challenging role like number three. He and Tilak batted exceptionally, and their skills are something we can learn from to improve our game."

Challenges in the Chase

While chasing a challenging target of 220, Zimbabwe started strong but ultimately fell short, scoring only 129 runs. Raza admitted that their aggressive approach was hindered by inexperience and poor shot selection. He explained, "We intended to chase aggressively, and our openers provided a good start. Unfortunately, inexperience and shot selection were our downfalls."

Raza also accepted responsibility for his recent batting performance, acknowledging that he needs to contribute more to the team's success. He stated, "I feel I've been letting the team down as captain with my batting. It's crucial for me to perform because the team needs my runs, which I haven't provided in the last two T20 matches. However, I am determined to improve and help the team."
