YSRCP Accuses Andhra Government of Restricting Jagan Mohan Reddy's Tours

Allegations Against the Andhra Government
On Thursday, the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) claimed that the coalition government in Andhra Pradesh is imposing strict restrictions on the tours of party leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, unable to tolerate his increasing public support. According to a press release, party spokespersons Putha Shiva Shankar, Are Shyamala, and Mancha Nagamallishwari accused the government of plotting against Jagan whenever he attempts to meet the public, utilizing police restrictions, notices, and detentions to prevent party leaders and workers from reaching him.
Limitations on Jagan's Convoy
They asserted that the government has restricted Jagan's convoy to just eight vehicles and issued notices to YSRCP leaders before his visit to Srikakulam to meet former minister Dr. Sidiri Appala Raju in jail. Jagan was going to show support for Appala Raju, who was arrested in an illegal case after a routine road accident was portrayed by the government and its allied media as an assassination attempt.
Concerns Over Constitutional Rights
Party leaders questioned why the government fears a former chief minister exercising his constitutional right to travel across the state. They recalled that when "CM Chandrababu Naidu was the opposition leader, the YS Jagan government allowed him to roam freely despite his provocative speeches and attacks by TDP workers. They emphasized that Jagan's events have been peaceful over the past two years, and the YSRCP has consistently cooperated with the police. Furthermore, they alleged that despite this, the government has been sending TDP workers to provoke incidents while failing to provide adequate security for the opposition leader.
