YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra Arrested Over Alleged Links to Pakistan
YouTuber in Custody for Alleged Security Breach
Jyoti Malhotra, a YouTuber from Haryana, has been taken into police custody on allegations of sharing sensitive information and maintaining ongoing communication with a Pakistani national. Her arrest occurred on Sunday, as Haryana Police initiated an investigation. Following the news, social media users began to uncover her previous videos related to Pakistan and Instagram posts showcasing her trip to Kashmir, which have intensified suspicions regarding her activities. Superintendent of Police (SP) Hisar, Shashank Kumar Sawan, mentioned that she was being groomed as an asset and had connections with other YouTube personalities and individuals from Pakistan.
Investigation Reveals Possible Links to Terror Attack
During the investigation, authorities discovered that Malhotra had traveled to Pakistan prior to the Pahalgam attack. SP Hisar confirmed that the inquiry is ongoing to determine any potential connections between her visit and the terrorist incident.
Controversial Instagram Photo Sparks National Security Concerns
Malhotra's cheerful Instagram photos have come under scrutiny, particularly one that has become a focal point of discussion. In this image, she is seen smiling in a red saree against a picturesque backdrop, reminiscent of a Bollywood film scene. However, the signboard in the background, which reads 'Qazigund,' has raised alarms regarding national security.
Understanding Qazigund's Strategic Importance
Qazigund, located in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, is often referred to as the 'Gateway of Kashmir.' This town is a crucial entry point into the Kashmir Valley, strategically positioned along National Highway 44 (NH-44), which links the valley to the rest of India via the Jawahar Tunnel and Banihal Pass. Qazigund plays a vital role in logistical operations for security and administrative movements, especially during periods of natural disasters or political unrest. Reports indicate that it has recently become a significant route for troop and equipment movement. Given the current tensions between India and Pakistan, Malhotra's civilian visit to Qazigund raises serious questions, especially in light of the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.
Previous Visits and Allegations of Espionage
This incident is not the first time Malhotra has faced scrutiny. It has been revealed that she visited Kashmir twice within two years. Following her trips, she shared videos on her social media platforms featuring 'lesser-known spots' and scenic views. Allegations suggest that she may have relayed information to a Pakistani national through her posts. The locations she highlighted during her visits, including railway junctions, highway toll booths, and communication towers, appear to be more than mere travel vlogs.
