Youth-Led Campaign Demands Compensation for Students' Families Amid Exam Controversies

In a poignant appeal, Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the Cockroach People's Party, has urged Prime Minister Modi to provide ₹1 crore compensation to families of students who have tragically taken their lives amid examination disputes. With a rising number of student suicides, Dipke emphasizes the urgent need for accountability from the government, particularly calling for the resignation of the Education Minister. As the CJP prepares for a significant protest at Jantar Mantar, they aim to highlight the failures in the education system and advocate for the mental health of students. This movement seeks to restore trust and ensure that such tragedies do not go unanswered.

Call for Action Before Upcoming Protest

Before the anticipated student protest at Jantar Mantar, Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the youth-led initiative 'Cockroach People's Party' (CJP), made a heartfelt appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday. He urged the government to provide ₹1 crore in compensation to the families of students who have reportedly taken their own lives amid ongoing disputes related to examinations. Dipke reiterated his organization's demand for the removal of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, emphasizing the need for accountability. This appeal comes ahead of CJP's second protest scheduled for June 20 at Jantar Mantar, where the group plans to intensify its campaign against alleged irregularities in examinations and the government's failure to ensure accountability in the education system.

Rising Crisis in Student Mental Health

In his letter, Dipke expressed deep concern over a growing crisis threatening the future of the nation—specifically, the lives and mental health of young students. He reported that in recent weeks, 11 students have taken their own lives, with five of those deaths occurring within the last 48 hours. He highlighted that the situation is deteriorating as students grapple with uncertainty regarding the possibility of re-examinations. Dipke called on the central government to provide immediate financial assistance to the affected families, arguing that many have taken substantial education loans to fulfill their children's academic aspirations. He stated that families who invested their life savings in their children's education are now left completely helpless after losing them.

Demand for Accountability and Minister's Resignation

Dipke reiterated his demand for the resignation of the Education Minister, stressing that students are seeking accountability. He noted that the Cockroach People's Party has been advocating for the minister's resignation for the past month and has organized protests nationwide to voice their demands. 'We, as students, simply want accountability for the tragic loss of life,' he asserted. He further emphasized that holding leadership accountable is a crucial step towards restoring trust in our education system among millions of students and parents, and failing to do so sends an unintended message that the administration accepts the current situation.
