He jokingly asked the shopkeeper, Sanjay Singh Bhadauria, if the road would be repaired soon, which provoked an aggressive response. The shopkeeper began to verbally abuse Amit, escalating the situation.

As tensions rose, Sanjay dragged Amit into the store, where he and his son, Saurabh, assaulted him with sticks. The brutal attack left Amit injured and resulted in three broken teeth.
