A Bold Decision for Love

A young woman from Dungargarh has raised serious concerns about her safety, claiming that her parents pose a threat to her life. This revelation comes after 22 years of nurturing from her parents, which she feels has been overshadowed by a brief romance that began on Instagram just a year and a half ago.

The woman stated that her parents have lost their dignity through their actions. In today's world, it is increasingly common for young women to abandon their families for relationships formed online, often through platforms like Instagram and Facebook. Families of these women frequently find themselves hiding from societal judgment.

In a recent incident, 22-year-old Lakshmi Nai, a resident of Dungargarh, eloped with Akashdeep, a young man from Sardarshehar. The couple prepared a cohabitation agreement and subsequently sought protection from the local police. Lakshmi revealed that she met Akashdeep on Instagram about 18 months ago, leading to a deepening relationship.

After informing her family about her intentions to marry Akashdeep, her parents traveled to Sardarshehar to investigate his background. They were informed that he was unemployed and had a history of gambling and substance abuse.

Upon learning this, Lakshmi's parents rejected the relationship, influenced by the opinions of others. Lakshmi expressed her disappointment, stating that her parents disregarded her feelings and dignity. She emphasized that if her parents do not value their own honor, she sees no reason to uphold it for them.

Despite her parents' efforts to find a suitable match for her, Lakshmi chose to leave home and join Akashdeep. They prepared the necessary documents to live together, and when they approached the police for assistance, her parents arrived, pleading with her to return home.

Unmoved by her parents' tears, Lakshmi held Akashdeep's hand and left the police station with him. She mentioned that she works in tailoring while Akashdeep is employed at an electrical shop. Lakshmi expressed fears for her safety from her family, prompting her to seek police protection. Akashdeep assured that he is committed to caring for Lakshmi and supporting her throughout their lives.
