New Delhi, August 1: A video that has gone viral on social media features a young woman who was charged for making inappropriate comments about Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a protest related to NEET paper leaks. In the video, she expresses her regret and offers an apology for her statements.
In the widely shared clip, the young woman, dressed in a striped T-shirt, stands with her hands clasped together, directly addressing the audience. She acknowledges that her comments during the demonstration were out of line and conveys her deep remorse for her actions.
She claims that peer influence at the protest led her to make remarks she now deems unacceptable. The atmosphere of the protest, she explains, clouded her judgment, prompting her to say things she typically would not.
Furthermore, she expresses her sorrow for the incident, recognizing its seriousness. She wishes to apologize not only to the Prime Minister but also to anyone across the nation who may have been hurt by her words.
Interestingly, she mentions her age in the video. While the FIR states she is 25, she claims to be just 15 years old. Referring to her actions as a significant error, she states that she never intended to spark such controversy and now feels embarrassed about her conduct.
In her heartfelt apology, she admits that her actions were wrong and difficult to justify. She describes a profound sense of shame and struggles to face herself after reflecting on the incident.
"I am only 15 years old. What I did was inexcusable. I have said many hurtful things," she states.
Seeking forgiveness, she urges the public to consider her actions as a momentary lapse in judgment and assures that such a mistake will not happen again.
Labeling it her "first and last mistake," she adds, "I apologize to the entire nation. I am deeply ashamed. I can't even look at myself. Please forgive me."
The controversy began when a complaint was lodged against her at a Noida police station regarding her remarks about the Prime Minister. The Noida Police initiated a Zero FIR, which was subsequently transferred to the Parliament Street Police Station in New Delhi.
The complainant alleged that her comments disrespected the dignity of the Prime Minister's Office and could incite discord and disrupt public peace.
The apology video surfaced shortly after Prime Minister Modi released an Instagram video urging restraint and forgiveness in light of abusive slogans directed at him during student protests.
In his message, he referenced recent events at Jantar Mantar, where some "misguided youngsters" used language unbecoming of a civilized society.
He noted that not only was he targeted, but his late mother also faced appalling abuse. Acknowledging the public's strong reaction, the Prime Minister remarked that mistakes are part of growing up and that childhood offers the chance to rectify those errors.
“That is the essence of childhood,” he stated. He expressed understanding of the societal outrage and cultural shock regarding the language used by young girls.
PM Modi emphasized the importance of guiding these youngsters rather than punishing them, stating that legal actions or societal harassment would not resolve the issue. He expressed a desire to forgive them and hoped society would embrace this sentiment, emphasizing that he holds only compassion in his heart.
