Successful Conclusion of the Workshop Series

Yonex Sunrise India has wrapped up its nationwide Yonex Stringing Workshop Series, with the final event taking place at the Goldfinch Hotel in Bengaluru on Friday. This initiative underscores their dedication to enhancing the racquet sports ecosystem in India through technical education and skill enhancement.

Participation and Engagement

The Bengaluru workshop attracted over 140 stringing professionals from various states, including Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Odisha, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana. This made it one of the largest gatherings of racquet stringers in southern India, as noted in a recent announcement.

Advanced Techniques and Global Standards

Tim Willis, the Head Stringer and Supervisor of the Yonex Stringing Team, led the sessions, providing hands-on demonstrations that focused on advanced stringing techniques, machine calibration, and athlete-specific servicing requirements. These sessions also covered international standards prevalent in elite badminton and tennis tournaments.

The evolution of professional stringing into a specialized technical discipline has a direct impact on athlete performance, influencing factors such as control, feel, consistency, power, and durability. The workshop series aimed to expose Indian stringers to global best practices and tournament-level servicing systems.

Participants had the opportunity to work with the Yonex Precision 9 and the new Precision 5.2 stringing machines, along with engaging in technical discussions tailored to the needs of badminton and tennis professionals.

Encouraging Future Participation

The Bengaluru event highlighted the increasing demand for structured technical education in racquet sports in India, especially as badminton and tennis see a rise in participation and professionalization.

Vikramaditya Dhar, CEO of Yonex Sunrise India, expressed, "The level of participation across all three cities has been very encouraging, emphasizing the need for more structured technical learning opportunities in racquet sports. We believe that developing the ecosystem is as crucial as athlete development, and workshops like these are vital for establishing stronger technical standards in India."

Tim Willis remarked on the outstanding participation and engagement in Bengaluru, noting the rapid growth of a skilled community of stringers in India eager to learn and adapt to international standards. He sees a promising future for technical servicing and professional stringing in the country.

Strengthening the Racquet Sports Ecosystem

As a global leader in badminton, Yonex recognizes that stringing is fundamental to racquet performance. With the rapid growth of racquet sports in India at both grassroots and professional levels, there is a notable increase in awareness and demand for professional stringing services and technical expertise.

Current players, including Lakshya Sen, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, and Chirag Shetty, are increasingly aware of the importance of strings, tension, consistency, and overall racquet performance. This heightened interest has fostered enthusiasm within the stringing community to continuously learn and provide optimal support to athletes.

Through initiatives like the Yonex Stringing Workshop Series, Yonex Sunrise India aims to enhance India's sporting culture by investing at the grassroots level. This initiative is designed to create opportunities for stringers and technical professionals to improve their skills, gain exposure to international standards, and contribute significantly to the growth of racquet sports in the country.

Nationwide Success and Vision

The workshop series, which included sessions in New Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, saw participation from over 350 stringers representing nearly all states and Union Territories of India.

Indian shuttlers have been achieving success in BWF tours and recently secured a historic bronze medal in the Thomas Cup, marking only the second medal for the country in this prestigious tournament. Additionally, India is set to host the BWF World Championships from August 17-23 in New Delhi, the first time in 17 years.

The series of workshops aligns with Yonex Sunrise India's broader vision of investing in technical excellence, education, and long-term ecosystem development in racquet sports across India.
