In a recent assembly session, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath confronted the uproar from the Samajwadi Party regarding the codeine syrup issue. He emphasized that no deaths have been linked to the syrup in Uttar Pradesh and assured that justice would be served against those involved. His remarks included pointed criticisms of Akhilesh Yadav, suggesting that the opposition's history of misconduct would soon be exposed.

Yogi Adityanath's Strong Remarks in Assembly

In the Uttar Pradesh Assembly today, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed the uproar caused by the Samajwadi Party's legislators regarding codeine syrup. Without naming anyone directly, he remarked that there are two types of individuals in the country: one who resides in Delhi and another in Lucknow. He suggested that whenever discussions arise, these individuals flee the country, hinting that the 'Babua' (a reference to Akhilesh Yadav) might soon leave for England again while the opposition continues to create a ruckus.

Yogi's comments were clearly directed at the leader of the Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav. He asserted that there have been no fatalities in Uttar Pradesh linked to codeine cough syrup. Furthermore, he stated that actions would be taken under the NDPS Act regarding this issue, emphasizing that the state government has already won a case in court. He also pointed out that the largest wholesaler, who was initially arrested by the STF, had been granted a license by the Samajwadi Party back in 2016.

No Accused Will Escape Justice

Adityanath declared that no accused individuals would evade justice, assuring that preparations for bulldozer actions are in place. He urged the public not to complain when such actions occur. To date, the government has registered 79 cases involving 225 accused individuals, with 78 arrests made and 134 firms raided. He suggested that a thorough investigation would likely reveal connections to leaders or individuals associated with the Samajwadi Party. The High Court has ruled that cases under the NDPS Act should proceed, and the Uttar Pradesh government has fought and won this battle.

Earlier, Yogi Adityanath criticized the main opposition party, the Samajwadi Party, regarding the illegal trade of codeine cough syrup, stating that the investigation is ongoing and that those arrested have links to the party. Speaking to reporters as he entered the assembly for the winter session, he reiterated that the investigation is ongoing and that the connections to the Samajwadi Party would become evident. He expressed confidence that the party's notorious history would be revealed in this matter.

Special Investigation Team Formed

Yogi Adityanath mentioned that a state-level Special Investigation Team (SIT) is currently working on this case, comprising officials from the Uttar Pradesh Police and the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA). The investigation aims to uncover how far the money from this illegal trade has reached. In a jab at Akhilesh Yadav's statements, the Chief Minister remarked, 'I keep making this mistake repeatedly; while there was dust on my face, I kept cleaning the mirror.'
