Celebrating the Legacy of Ramdhari Singh Dinkar

On Friday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the enduring influence of the national poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar's timeless work, 'Rashmirathi', which continues to guide society and the nation. He warned that to build a strong, self-reliant, and developed India, it is crucial to be vigilant against forces that seek to divide society in the name of caste.

Speaking at the inaugural session of the three-day 'Rashmirathi Mahotsav' in Lucknow, commemorating the 52nd death anniversary of Dinkar and the 75th anniversary of 'Rashmirathi', Adityanath expressed gratitude towards the poet's contributions. He stated, 'This three-day event is organized to celebrate the 75 years of Dinkar's monumental poetic work. We gather in the state capital to express our appreciation for such a powerful literary figure.'

A Tribute to Dinkar's Literary Genius

The Chief Minister mentioned, 'Here, we will witness a theatrical series based on his timeless poetry. We will see how Goddess Saraswati resided on Dinkar's tongue, weaving words through his writing. This performance will allow us all to experience the essence of 'Rashmirathi'. On this occasion, I pay my humble tribute to Dinkar's memories.'

He further stated, 'We must remember that if we wish to preserve our freedom and aspire to realize a developed and self-reliant India, we must remain alert against traitors who plunder the nation and weaken society in the name of caste. This inspirational message was imparted to us by Dinkar decades ago.'

Reflections on India's Democratic Struggles

Recalling the Emergency period, Adityanath noted, 'When there was an attempt to stifle democracy in India, Dinkar called out, 'Vacate the throne, for the people are coming.' He remarked that India has always been rich in resources and has been a global power, yet it has endured centuries of subjugation. No one can match India in strength, intellect, and wealth, although we have had some flaws and weaknesses within.'

During the event held at the Indira Gandhi Institute, a commemorative booklet titled 'Dialogue with Rashmirathi' was released. Adityanath praised Dinkar for awakening social consciousness and uniting society through his works, inspiring people at various levels and strengthening the nation's spirit.

Promoting Literary Works and Cultural Heritage

He instructed the culture department to promote such literary works that inspire today's generation. The festival will also feature a theatrical presentation based on Swami Vivekananda on Saturday. Adityanath remarked, 'He gave global recognition to India's Vedic and eternal traditions.'

Referring to Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, the Chief Minister announced that an event based on Tilak will take place on April 26. He stated, 'Tilak proclaimed in Lucknow, 'Swaraj is my birthright, and I shall have it,' which became a significant force in India's freedom movement. On the same day, the 'Atal Swarajanjali' program will be held, showcasing a dance-drama based on Atal Bihari Vajpayee's poetry, as his birth centenary was recently celebrated, and a 'National Inspiration Site' has been developed in Lucknow, which has long been a place of work for Atal Ji.'

Honoring Cultural Icons

Adityanath expressed his respect for the memories of Swami Vivekananda and paid tribute to Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, who elevated cultural consciousness to national awareness through the Ganapati festival in Maharashtra. He directed the culture department to ensure the public is informed about such works.

The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, former Union Minister Ashwini Choubey, Dr. Satya Pal Singh, Rajya Sabha member Dr. Dinesh Sharma, program coordinator and state agriculture minister Surya Pratap Shahi, culture/tourism minister Jaiveer Singh, Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, Neeraj Kumar, president of the Dinkar Smriti Trust, and Dinkar's grandson, Ritvik Udayan.
