Kashi's Remarkable Development Journey

On Saturday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the extraordinary revival of the revered city of Kashi over the past 11 to 11.5 years under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's guidance. Speaking to the media after offering prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, he revealed that over ₹55,000 crores have been allocated for extensive development projects aimed at transforming Kashi into a modern global heritage city while preserving its ancient spiritual identity. This transformation has led to a significant increase in the number of pilgrims and contributed ₹1.3 lakh crores to the national GDP.

Kashi's Spiritual Significance and Development

Yogi stated that Kashi is eternal and holds immense reverence for every Indian. However, he noted that the extensive development program that Kashi deserved in independent India was lacking. In the last decade, Kashi has reached new heights through physical development while safeguarding and promoting its spiritual and cultural heritage. He expressed pride that Prime Minister Modi represents Kashi in the national parliament, consistently advocating for the preservation of its ancient form and presenting it to the world in a new light.

Investment and Growth in Kashi

The Chief Minister further elaborated that projects worth over ₹55,000 crores have been approved for Kashi, with ₹36,000 crores already inaugurated and the remaining projects progressing swiftly. Before 2014, or prior to the establishment of Kashi Vishwanath Dham, the daily influx of pilgrims ranged from 5,000 to 25,000. Today, that number has surged to between 1.25 lakh and 1.5 lakh visitors daily, with Kashi contributing ₹1.3 lakh crores to the country's GDP.

Addressing Misinformation and Promoting Sports Culture

Yogi Adityanath also addressed the misinformation spread by the Congress party, claiming that AI-generated videos are misleading the public and undermining the sentiments of the Sanatan community. He assured that the temples at Manikarnika will be part of the project's preservation efforts, as the ghats will be constructed afterward, ensuring their protection. He criticized those who continuously attempt to tarnish Kashi's heritage. During the inauguration ceremony, he praised Prime Minister Modi's initiatives to promote sports culture in India.
