Yogi Adityanath Criticizes Samajwadi Party Over Codeine Cough Syrup Scandal
Yogi Adityanath's Allegations Against Samajwadi Party
On Friday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a strong critique of the Samajwadi Party in connection with the codeine cough syrup controversy. He stated that initial investigations indicate a link between the arrested suspects, apprehended by the STF and Uttar Pradesh Police, and the Samajwadi Party. Adityanath asserted that as the inquiry progresses, the party's involvement will become increasingly evident.
He mentioned that a state-level Special Investigation Team (SIT) is currently probing the matter, which includes officials from the Uttar Pradesh Police and the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA). The Chief Minister emphasized that the investigation will reveal who profited from this scandal and will uncover all related aspects.
Further Remarks on the Investigation
In a press conference, Adityanath took a jab at Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, saying, "This is a recurring mistake; I kept cleaning the mirror while dust was on my face." He noted that several arrests have been made following complaints about the sale of toxic cough syrup in various locations, and there have been reports of syrup smuggling that have been largely curtailed.
While speaking to reporters at the Vidhan Bhawan before the winter assembly session, Adityanath responded to a question by stating that the investigation is ongoing and that the individuals apprehended so far are connected to the Samajwadi Party. He assured that the truth would come to light, saying, "Let the investigation proceed; the truth will be revealed." He remarked that the Samajwadi Party has a notorious history, and its involvement in this case will soon be exposed.
Investigation Team and Future Revelations
Adityanath reiterated that a state-level SIT is actively working on this case, comprising officials from the Uttar Pradesh Police and FSDA. He stated that the investigation will uncover the extent of the illegal operations and who benefited financially from them. In response to Yadav's statements, he quipped, "I can only say about him: 'This is a recurring mistake; I kept cleaning the mirror while dust was on my face.'" He also mentioned that there are photographs of Yadav with criminals, asserting that the investigation will clarify the situation.
