Yogi Adityanath Criticizes Opposition Parties Over Women's Reservation Bill
Yogi Adityanath's Strong Remarks Against Opposition
On Thursday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a fierce critique against the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress, labeling them as "anti-women." He accused these opposition parties of revealing their true mindset by opposing the constitutional amendment bill related to women's reservation in Parliament. Speaking to the media ahead of a special session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Adityanath also charged the opposition 'INDIA' alliance with creating instability in the country.
Concerns Over Women's Safety
During a press briefing outside the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly before the special session commenced, the Chief Minister stated that the INDIA alliance aimed to foster instability in India by opposing the women's reservation bill. He further claimed that women were entirely unsafe during the SP's governance in the state.
Discussion on Women's Reservation Bill
Adityanath mentioned that the special session was convened to discuss the opposition's refusal to support the women's reservation bill in Parliament. He remarked, "Everyone is aware of the slogans against the Samajwadi Party... It is common knowledge that the SP and Congress are anti-women." He added, "They had an opportunity to improve their image by supporting the women's reservation bill, but they chose to oppose it. The SP, Congress, and the INDIA alliance made every effort to ensure the opposition to women's reservation. They wanted to create instability in the country."
Acknowledgment of PM Modi's Initiatives
The Chief Minister also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the initiatives taken by his government to empower women. He stated, "We will also thank PM Modi for his efforts in empowering women. Under his leadership, the BJP and NDA have taken numerous steps to empower women..."
Special Session of UP Assembly
A one-day special session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly was called on Thursday, focusing primarily on women's reservation. According to a notification issued by the Assembly's Principal Secretary Pradeep Kumar Dubey, Governor Anandiben Patel convened the second session of the 18th Assembly on Thursday, April 30, at 11 AM.
SP's Criticism of BJP
The Samajwadi Party has criticized the BJP regarding this session, claiming that the saffron party intends to introduce an "unconstitutional" censure motion in the House concerning the constitutional amendment bill that could not be passed in Parliament. The party accused the BJP of attempting to incite the public, particularly women. "We strongly condemn the motion they wish to bring forward. After their bill failed in Parliament, they resorted to this tactic to mislead the public," stated Mata Prasad Pandey, the leader of the opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly.
