Yastika Bhatia's Season Cut Short

Yastika Bhatia, the wicketkeeper-batter for Gujarat Giants (GG), will miss the remainder of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026 season, as reported by a sports news outlet. This announcement was made by Gujarat's head coach, Michael Klinger, through a video shared on social media.


"I hope you're doing well and that your recovery is progressing smoothly," Klinger expressed, adding, "We look forward to having you back fit and strong for the next season of the Gujarat Giants in WPL season 5."


Injury Details and Auction Insights

Bhatia was acquired by Gujarat for Rs 50 lakh during the WPL auction. However, her participation in this season was uncertain due to her recent ACL surgery in October.


Prior to the auction, the WPL had informed franchises that selecting Bhatia would mean they could not replace her during the tournament.


Bhatia's Performance in WPL

Before joining Gujarat, Bhatia played for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the WPL. Over three seasons, she accumulated 506 runs in 28 matches, averaging 18.74 with a strike rate of 113.45.

In their opening match against UP Warriorz in Navi Mumbai, Bhatia was spotted supporting her team from the dugout.
