WPL Match 10: Mumbai Indians Women Opt to Bowl First Against UP Warriorz Women
Match Overview
In the tenth match of the Women's Premier League (WPL) on Saturday, Mumbai Indians Women captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and chose to field first against UP Warriorz Women.
The defending champions, Mumbai Indians, enter this match with two victories out of four games, while UP Warriorz have secured only one win from their four matches. MI aims to clinch their third win, whereas UP is eager to achieve their second.
Captain's Insights on Strategy and Team Adjustments
"We decided to bowl first today. Chasing has consistently been our strength, and we want to return to that. Given the conditions, we've included Matthews back into the lineup, while Ismail is resting. This decision is influenced by the day match conditions. We believe Matthews will be crucial on this pitch. Additionally, Poonam is out, and Kanchan will make her debut. It's important to adapt to the conditions as we progress in the tournament, and we aim to give all players a fair chance," stated Harmanpreet Kaur.
UP Warriorz's Approach to the Game
"We would have opted to bowl first as well, as that seems to be the trend. However, in the initial day games, Gujarat performed well batting first, so there’s potential there. We are excited to face Mumbai again. They will be looking to recover, but we are prepared. We believe we can enhance our performance, and we are eager to take the field with the same team as last match," commented UP Warriorz captain Meg Lanning.
