In celebration of World Mental Health Day, the Mental Health and Counseling Committee at Government Arya College in Nurpur hosted an informative lecture focused on the theme “Mental Health and Emotional Well-Being.” The event was led by Acting Principal and Associate Professor of Botany, Dr. Rakesh Kumar.
The session commenced with a welcoming speech from Dr. Anjana Gautam, Assistant Professor of Sociology, who underscored the significance of mental health awareness.
Dr. Seemant, a psychiatrist from Civil Hospital Nurpur, provided insights to students on managing anxiety, stress, and emotional difficulties. He advocated for regular physical activity, a nutritious diet, sufficient sleep, and a well-structured daily routine, while also addressing the growing concern of substance abuse among young people.
The second speaker, Mr. Abhishek Kumar, a counselor at Civil Hospital Nurpur, elaborated on the physical, mental, and social transformations that occur during adolescence. He discussed issues like panic attacks and addressed common emotional and physical challenges faced by teenagers.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Rakesh Kumar expressed his appreciation to the expert speakers, committee members, faculty, and students. Dr. Anjana Gautam concluded the event with a vote of thanks.
The program saw participation from faculty members such as Prof. Manjeet Singh, Dr. Anil Kumar, Prof. Shashi Bala, Prof. Alka, Prof. Reema, Prof. Suresh Kumar, Prof. Surjeet Kumar, Prof. Shiv Kumar, and Dr. Kumari Seema, along with approximately 120 students.
The lecture aimed to enhance students' understanding of mental health, motivate them to lead healthier lifestyles, and promote seeking timely professional assistance for mental and emotional issues.
