New Delhi, August 7 - On Friday, female activists associated with the All India Progressive Women's Association (AIPWA), under the banner of the Indian Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation, gathered at Jantar Mantar to demand the immediate implementation of 33% reservation for women in Parliament and state assemblies. They also insisted that this reservation should not be linked to the proposed delimitation process or census.

The demonstration saw participation from women across various regions of Delhi and neighboring states. The protesters urged that the women's reservation be enacted during the ongoing monsoon session of the current Lok Sabha and state assemblies, based on the existing seats. They called on the central government to ensure that the reservation is not tied to the proposed delimitation and census processes.

Meena Tiwari, the National General Secretary of AIPWA, condemned the recent police actions against protesting students in the capital while addressing the gathering. She accused the BJP-led central government of attempting to advance its 'communal politics' by linking women's reservation to delimitation. Tiwari stated, 'The BJP government aims to promote its communal agenda by tying the 33% women's reservation to delimitation.'

Women across the nation are united against this, and the government will have to yield. The 33% reservation for women should be implemented unconditionally during the current monsoon session.
