Ministers Engage with Protesting Educators in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: On Saturday, Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj and Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan met with teachers who have been protesting in Bhubaneswar, offering assurances that the government would soon address their longstanding demands.

Harichandan emphasized the need for the government to review and interpret the committee's findings before making any decisions. He urged the educators to have faith in the government and to end their protests, stating, "Please trust the government, call off the protest and return home."

Minister Suraj also visited the protest site, promising that the teachers' concerns would be resolved in the near future. He mentioned that the government had already received the committee's report and that steps toward intervention were underway.

"We have received 79 reports totaling approximately 800 pages," Suraj noted, assuring that a decision would be reached soon. He encouraged the teachers to send a delegation for further discussions, indicating that their demands would be thoroughly reviewed.

Despite the ministers' reassurances, the protesting teachers stated they would maintain their demonstrations until they received a formal written commitment from the ministers.

It is important to highlight that teachers and job aspirants from various groups have been actively protesting, voicing concerns over issues such as teacher recruitment, safety, salary discrepancies, pension benefits, job security, and overall service conditions.
