Why Vikram Dev University Postponed Its English Exam Amid WhatsApp Leak?
Exam Postponement Due to Question Paper Leak
In Jayapur, located in the Koraput district, Vikram Dev University announced the postponement of its second-semester undergraduate Ability Enhancement Course (AEC 1.2) English exam on Saturday. This decision came after officials discovered that a question paper circulating on WhatsApp closely resembled the one intended for that day.
Originally, the exam was set to take place from 2 PM to 5 PM at various centers across Koraput, Rayagada, Malkangiri, and Nabarangpur districts. Following the discovery, the university promptly notified all examination center superintendents about the change.
Ranjan Kumar Pradhan, the Controller of Examinations, reported that several students approached him around 11 AM, presenting four to five different question papers that were being shared on WhatsApp. One of these papers was found to be identical to the official exam paper prepared for the AEC English test.
To maintain the integrity of the examination process, the university decided to postpone the exam as a precautionary measure.
Additionally, the university has filed a complaint with the Koraput cyber police station, requesting an investigation into how the question paper was leaked on WhatsApp and how it matched the original exam paper.
Pradhan suggested that the leaked material might have been disseminated by individuals attempting to mislead students, but the true details would only emerge following the investigation.
Students have been advised to disregard any rumors or unverified messages circulating on WhatsApp.
A new question paper will be created for the rescheduled examination, with the university planning to announce the new date and time soon, according to Pradhan.
