CJP Urges Sonam Wangchuk to Prioritize Health Amid Ongoing Hunger Strike

New Delhi: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has made a heartfelt appeal to activist Sonam Wangchuk, urging him to conclude his hunger strike. They expressed that his commitment has motivated students nationwide and assured him that their campaign regarding alleged examination irregularities will persist until their demands are fulfilled.

In a public letter directed to Wangchuk, the CJP emphasized the importance of his health while committing to advance the cause of "examination justice."

"We hold immense respect and gratitude for you, and we kindly ask you to end your fast. Your dedication has inspired countless students across the nation," the letter stated.

Wangchuk has been on an indefinite hunger strike for 25 days, advocating for accountability concerning alleged examination irregularities.

The CJP referenced the July 20 "Sansad Chalo" mobilization, noting that students from various states had converged in Delhi to support the cause.

"You have demonstrated that this struggle transcends individual interests and that students rightfully deserve justice. However, your health is paramount at this moment," the letter continued.

The organization reassured Wangchuk that the protests would carry on, regardless of his decision regarding the hunger strike.

"We assure you that our fight will not conclude with your fast. We will persist with the protests and continue advocating for examination justice until our demands are met. We will do everything possible to maintain momentum," the letter affirmed.

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke reiterated this appeal in a post on social media.

"We urge Sonam Wangchuk to end his hunger strike. His life is invaluable, and the nation needs him. The peaceful demonstration at Jantar Mantar will persist until our demands are addressed," he stated.

In another post, Dipke highlighted that Wangchuk's fast had reached its 25th day and questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silence on the matter.

"Today marks Day 25 of Sonam Wangchuk's hunger strike, yet the PM remains silent," Dipke remarked.

"Politics involves more than just election rallies and victories; it requires accountability and responsiveness to the public," he added, questioning why the Prime Minister had not reached out to Wangchuk, why police had responded so harshly to protesting students, and why Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan remained in office amid the controversy surrounding examination irregularities.

Wangchuk joined the CJP-led protest at Jantar Mantar on June 28 and initiated an indefinite hunger strike to demand accountability for alleged irregularities in competitive examinations, reforms in the examination system, and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Following a directive from the Delhi High Court, he was transferred from Safdarjung Hospital to Medanta Hospital, where he continues his fast, while the sit-in protest at Jantar Mantar remains ongoing after a police crackdown on the planned "Sansad Chalo" march.
