New Leadership in the Indian Navy


New Delhi: The Indian Navy is set to welcome Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan as its new Chief of Naval Staff.


He will take over from Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, who is scheduled to retire on May 31.


Currently, Vice Admiral Swaminathan holds the position of Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief at the Western Naval Command.


The Defence Ministry has officially announced his appointment as the Chief of Naval Staff.


Commissioned into the Indian Navy on July 1, 1987, he has a specialization in communication and electronic warfare.


Vice Admiral Swaminathan is an alumnus of several prestigious institutions, including the National Defence Academy in Khadakvasla, the Joint Services Command and Staff College in the UK, the College of Naval Warfare in Karanja, and the US Naval War College in Newport.


He has been honored with multiple awards, including the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, and Vishisht Seva Medal, reflecting his distinguished service.


Throughout his career, he has held numerous significant operational, staff, and training roles, commanding various vessels such as the missile vessels INS Vidyut and Vinash, the missile corvette INS Kulish, the guided missile destroyer INS Mysore, and the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya.
