Rakesh Aggarwal Takes Charge as NIA Chief


New Delhi: On Wednesday, Rakesh Aggarwal, a senior officer of the Indian Police Service, was appointed as the new director general of the National Investigation Agency (NIA).


Aggarwal, who belongs to the Himachal Pradesh cadre and is part of the 1994 IPS batch, has been serving as the special director general within the anti-terrorism agency. He has also been managing the responsibilities of the NIA's DG position on an additional basis.


The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has sanctioned his role as DG of the NIA, which will extend until August 31, 2028, coinciding with his retirement date, as stated in a notification from the Personnel Ministry.
