What’s on the Agenda for Pakistan's President Zardari During His China Visit?
Zardari's Upcoming Trip to China
Islamabad: Asif Ali Zardari, the President of Pakistan, is set to embark on a trip to China this Saturday, aiming to enhance the bilateral relationship between the two nations, particularly in the realms of economic and trade collaboration.
His itinerary includes visits to Changsha in Hunan province from April 25 to 27, followed by Sanya in Hainan province from April 28 to May 1, as detailed in a statement from the Foreign Office.
During his stay, Zardari is expected to engage with provincial leaders to discuss the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and other aspects of the bilateral relationship.
This visit is particularly noteworthy as it coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, underscoring their commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership.
Additionally, this trip occurs amidst rumors of potential discussions between Iran and the US taking place in Pakistan.
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Islamabad late Friday for talks with Pakistani officials.
According to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, an advisor to President Trump, are also heading to Pakistan for direct discussions with the Iranian delegation.
However, there has been no official confirmation regarding whether direct talks between the US and Iran will occur during this visit.
