What’s Next for Nepal's PM Balendra Shah? India Visit Still in the Works!
Nepal's Prime Minister Plans Visit to India
Kathmandu: The visit of Prime Minister Balendra Shah to India is contingent upon discussions between the foreign affairs ministries of both nations, as stated by Nepal's Foreign Affairs Minister, Shisir Khanal.
Khanal revealed that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended an invitation to his Nepalese counterpart, Balendra Shah, affectionately known as 'Balen'.
"It is quite normal for high-level exchanges to occur between our countries; however, the specifics regarding the date and other arrangements will only be determined after consultations between the two ministries," he mentioned upon returning from his trip to Mauritius, where he participated in the 9th Indian Ocean Conference.
He further noted that no specific date or itinerary for the visit has been established yet.
The government has yet to reach a conclusion on this matter, he added. "A decision regarding such a significant visit will only be made once the new government outlines its priorities and both foreign ministries finalize their preparations," he explained.
During his meeting with India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in Mauritius, the topic of the Prime Minister's prospective visit to India was also discussed.
"I conveyed my belief that the high-level visit will occur once the technical frameworks of both ministries have been completed," he stated.
Khanal highlighted that there are approximately 40 such frameworks between the two nations, some of which are currently inactive.
"We must reactivate these frameworks, and the visit will proceed only after all necessary preparations are finalized," he concluded.
