Nitish Kumar's Transition to Rajya Sabha

Patna: The Chief Minister of Bihar and leader of the Janata Dal (United), Nitish Kumar, is set to take his oath as a Rajya Sabha member this Friday.

Deputy Chief Ministers of Bihar, Vijay Kumar Sinha and Samrat Choudhary, arrived in the capital on Thursday and are expected to attend the ceremony.

After being elected to the Rajya Sabha, Kumar resigned from his position in the Bihar Legislative Council on March 30.

Upon his arrival in New Delhi, he confirmed his intention to resign from the Chief Minister role shortly.

When asked about his decision, he stated, “I have achieved a lot in Bihar. Now, I believe it’s time for me to focus here.”

He added, “I will resign in a few days, and new leaders will take over as Chief Minister and Ministers.”

Accompanying him were Sanjay Jha, the National Working President of the Janata Dal (United), and Bihar minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary.

Previously, Jha hinted that the formation of a new government in Bihar would commence after April 13.

Kumar's recent comments indicate that this transition is on the horizon.

Bihar Minister Vijay Choudhary remarked that the entire NDA, including BJP leaders and allies, is committed to continuing Nitish Kumar’s governance approach.

“We will uphold the ‘Nitish Model’ that has led to significant advancements in Bihar over the last twenty years. This legacy will shape our future,” he stated.

Following his swearing-in, Kumar is anticipated to engage in a vital meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi to discuss the next steps for forming the new government in Bihar.

Sources suggest that key NDA leaders will finalize the next Chief Minister's name and the allocation of ministerial roles during this meeting.

These discussions are expected to take place in the presence of PM Modi, Amit Shah, and Nitish Kumar, highlighting the meeting's importance.

Additionally, Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha have also arrived in New Delhi and are likely to attend a BJP core committee meeting to deliberate on leadership and power-sharing in Bihar.

These high-level discussions occur amidst a significant political shift in Bihar, with Kumar poised to step down as Chief Minister shortly after his Rajya Sabha induction. The developments indicate that the NDA is proactively working towards a seamless leadership transition and the establishment of a new government in the state.
