What’s Inside BJP’s Vision for Assam? Unveiling the Sankalp Patra Ahead of Elections!
BJP Launches Manifesto for Assam Assembly Elections
Guwahati: On Monday, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) manifesto, known as the ‘Sankalp Patra’, for the forthcoming Assam Assembly elections during a ceremony at Vajpayee Bhawan in Guwahati.
The event saw the presence of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, and state BJP president Dilip Saikia, along with numerous senior party officials and supporters.
Sitharaman highlighted that the manifesto embodies the BJP’s aspirations for a 'secure, developed, and self-reliant Assam', detailing 31 pivotal commitments aimed at fostering growth across various sectors.
She stressed that the party's pledges are grounded in its governance history and emphasize inclusive development.
In a political critique, the Finance Minister remarked on Congress's diminished organizational presence in Assam during its rule, contrasting it with the BJP's substantial grassroots expansion over the last decade.
She also pointed out the regular visits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the state, asserting that this reflects the central government's dedication to Assam's advancement.
"The Sankalp Patra serves not merely as a list of promises but as a strategic plan supported by accountability and performance," stated Sitharaman, noting that the BJP administration has prioritized infrastructure, welfare initiatives, and economic prospects in the region.
Chief Minister Sarma added that the manifesto builds on the current government's successes and aims to enhance development efforts, especially in healthcare, education, and connectivity.
As the BJP prepares for a crucial electoral contest in Assam, the manifesto is anticipated to be a key element in shaping its campaign strategy leading up to the Assembly elections.
Party leaders expressed optimism that the commitments laid out in the Sankalp Patra would resonate with the electorate, securing a strong mandate in the upcoming polls.
The 126-member Assam Legislative Assembly is set to hold elections in a single phase on April 9, with vote counting scheduled for May 4.
