Independence Day Celebrations Focus on Youth and Heritage

In New Delhi, the Defence Ministry announced that this year's Independence Day celebrations on August 15 will highlight the role of youth in national development, alongside commemorating 150 years of 'Vande Mataram'.

Defence Secretary RK Singh emphasized that the initiative to honor the youth's contributions during the Red Fort celebrations was planned well in advance of the recent student protests at Jantar Mantar.

He stated, "This year's festivities will celebrate Yuva Shakti, recognizing the vital role of young Indians in achieving a developed Bharat by 2047."

Singh noted that the youth are essential to the nation's progress, as they will both contribute to and benefit from this journey.

He reassured that the planning for this celebration was established before any other events took place.

As part of the 150-year tribute to 'Vande Mataram', the national song will be performed from the Red Fort for the first time during the Independence Day celebrations, marking a significant moment.

The performance will occur at the beginning of the event, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also raise the national flag and the national anthem will be sung.

In response to inquiries, Singh confirmed that Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, has been invited, and seating will adhere strictly to the Table of Precedence, placing Gandhi's seat after that of cabinet ministers.
