Election Commission's Two-Day Visit to West Bengal


New Delhi: The Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, along with senior officials from the Election Commission, is set to visit West Bengal for two days to evaluate the state's preparedness for upcoming elections, as confirmed by officials on Sunday.


Arriving in Kolkata on Sunday evening, the election officials will engage with representatives from political parties, as well as civil and police authorities, on Monday and Tuesday.


With the legislative assemblies of West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry nearing the end of their terms in May and June, elections in these regions are anticipated to take place in April.


Following their assessment in West Bengal, the Election Commission plans to conclude its visits to other states and Union Territories preparing for elections.


The Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls has been finalized in these four states and Union Territories, with the final voters' lists now published.


An announcement regarding the assembly election schedule is expected from the poll authority in the near future.
