Prince Alois's Four-Day Visit to India

New Delhi: Starting this Sunday, Prince Alois of Liechtenstein will embark on a four-day journey to India aimed at enhancing bilateral relations in sectors such as trade, investment, science, technology, and innovation, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Saturday.

The acting head of the small European nation will be joined by his wife, Princess Sophie, along with a delegation of prominent business leaders.

During this visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prince Alois are scheduled to engage in discussions focusing on collaboration in trade, investment, science, technology, and cultural exchanges, while also sharing insights on regional and global issues, according to the ministry.

This marks Prince Alois's second trip to India in 2026, having previously attended the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi back in February.

His earlier visits to India occurred in 2010 and 2018.

The Prince is also set to meet with President Droupadi Murmu, who will host an official banquet in his honor, as per the MEA.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is expected to meet with Prince Alois as well.

This visit is anticipated to further strengthen the growing ties between India and Liechtenstein, especially following the implementation of the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) in 2025, the MEA noted.

The visit presents a chance to deepen the amicable relations between the two nations and explore new partnership opportunities.

The TEAPA was finalized between India and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) in March 2024 after nearly 16 years of negotiations.

The agreement took effect in October of the previous year.

Under this significant trade agreement, the EFTA member states—comprising Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland—are projected to invest USD 100 billion in India over the next 15 years.
