Protests Erupt Over Lynching Incident

In New Delhi, a significant protest unfolded as hundreds of VHP and Bajrang Dal supporters rallied against the lynching of a Hindu man in Bangladesh. The demonstrators, waving saffron flags and chanting slogans, clashed with police near the heavily fortified Bangladesh High Commission on Tuesday.

The protesters managed to breach multiple barricades, overwhelming police efforts to maintain order.

In anticipation of the protest, security was heightened in the area, which has been a focal point for tensions related to the recent violence in Bangladesh.

Numerous banners and placards were visible, many expressing strong condemnation of the Bangladeshi government.

The area was secured with three layers of barricades, supported by additional police and paramilitary forces.

One placard poignantly stated: “Hindu rakt ki ek ek boond ka hisaab chahiye” (Each drop of blood of a Hindu must be accounted for).

On December 18, Dipu Chandra Das, a 25-year-old garment worker, was brutally lynched by a mob in Baluka, Mymensingh, over alleged blasphemy, with his body subsequently set ablaze.

Reports indicate that Das was initially assaulted outside his workplace before being hanged from a tree. His remains were later discarded on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway and ignited.

A protestor expressed, “A Hindu man was brutally assaulted and killed. We urge our government to take decisive action against those responsible for this heinous act. We also demand that the Bangladeshi police act firmly against the perpetrators.”

Another protestor added, “In India, we regard every community as family. Likewise, every Hindu in any nation deserves the same respect.”
