Political Reactions to Modi's Italy Visit

New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent trip to Italy has sparked a variety of responses from political figures, emphasizing the need to enhance bilateral relations, tackle global issues, and prioritize India's economic goals.

Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP Sasmit Patra remarked that the shared democratic and cultural values between India and Italy make this visit particularly relevant amid current global uncertainties.

Patra stated, "During their joint statement, PM Modi and PM Meloni highlighted the common values shared by both nations. This is a crucial step for India and Italy, especially given the ongoing conflicts in West Asia, as it allows us to explore avenues for collaboration."

He expressed optimism that the visit would fortify the relationship between the two countries on a global scale, citing their mutual democratic principles and cultural ties.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Manoj Jha took a more reserved stance regarding the Prime Minister's international engagements, suggesting that the focus should be on the results of such diplomatic efforts.

"It's not appropriate to comment while the Prime Minister is abroad. Domestic political discussions will continue separately. The emphasis should be on the outcomes of this visit and whether there is a mutual understanding on bilateral matters and the current international crises," he conveyed to the media.

On the other hand, BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain characterized the Prime Minister's foreign tour as a success, asserting that India and Italy maintain robust bilateral ties.

"PM Modi has arrived in Italy for the concluding phase of his successful foreign tour. The relationship between India and Italy is strong, and both PM Modi and Giorgia Meloni have established a good rapport. This will be beneficial for both nations," he stated.

Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey expressed the public's anticipation for positive outcomes from the Prime Minister's trip, particularly regarding fuel prices and international peace initiatives.

"We believe he will return with new schemes and favorable news. We hope he addresses the ongoing issues related to petrol, diesel, and gas prices, as well as discussions on mitigating the conflict between Iran and America," Dubey remarked.

He emphasized that regardless of whether the Prime Minister is abroad or at home, the focus should always remain on India's economic advancement and national development.

Currently, PM Modi is in Italy as part of the concluding segment of his multi-nation tour, where he has engaged in discussions with Italian Prime Minister Meloni and President Sergio Mattarella regarding bilateral cooperation and global challenges.
