Major Youth Initiatives Launched by PM Modi

New Delhi: On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced a series of youth-centric programs totaling over Rs 62,000 crore, particularly targeting the upcoming elections in Bihar.

Among the initiatives is PM-SETU (Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs), a centrally funded project with an allocation of Rs 60,000 crore.

This initiative aims to upgrade 1,000 government ITIs using a hub-and-spoke model, which includes 200 hub ITIs and 800 spoke ITIs.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office, "PM-SETU will transform India's ITI landscape, transitioning to a government-owned yet industry-managed system, supported by global financing from the World Bank and Asian Development Bank."

The initial phase of this scheme will prioritize ITIs located in Patna and Darbhanga, with a strong focus on transformative projects that celebrate Bihar's rich heritage and youthful population.

Additionally, Modi launched the revamped 'Mukhyamantri Nishchay Svyam Sahayata Bhatta Yojana', which will provide nearly five lakh graduates with a monthly stipend of Rs 1,000 for two years, alongside free skill training.

He also introduced the updated Bihar Student Credit Card Scheme, offering interest-free education loans up to Rs 4 lakh, significantly alleviating the financial strain of pursuing higher education.

To date, over 3.92 lakh students have benefited from loans exceeding Rs 7,880 crore under this scheme.

In a further effort to empower the youth, Modi inaugurated the Bihar Yuva Ayog, a statutory commission aimed at harnessing the potential of individuals aged 18 to 45.

Bihar has been a focal point for numerous development and welfare programs initiated by the NDA governments at both the central and state levels.

Moreover, the Prime Minister inaugurated the Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur Skill University, designed to offer industry-relevant courses and vocational training to cultivate a competitive workforce.
