New Delhi: On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to Giorgia Meloni, the Italian Prime Minister, for achieving the distinction of being the longest-serving Prime Minister in Italy's postwar history. He expressed his hopes for her continued success in the future.

In his message, PM Modi commended Meloni's administration for its role in enhancing the Special Strategic Partnership between India and Italy. He reiterated his commitment to fostering close collaboration for the benefit of both nations' citizens.

In a post shared on X, PM Modi stated, "Congratulations to my friend Prime Minister Meloni on becoming the longest continuously serving Prime Minister in Italy's postwar history. This milestone reflects the trust and confidence of the Italian people in her leadership."

He added, "Her friendship has also been instrumental in strengthening the India-Italy Special Strategic Partnership, and I look forward to continuing our close cooperation to build a prosperous future for the people of our countries. My best wishes for her continued success in the years ahead."

Notably, Meloni's government has now surpassed the tenure of former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, marking a significant achievement in the Italian Republic's postwar history.

Since taking office as Italy's first female Prime Minister on October 22, 2022, Meloni's administration has now completed 1,413 days in power.

Earlier this July, Meloni had congratulated PM Modi on his own milestone of becoming India's longest-serving elected Prime Minister, expressing her eagerness to collaborate on new opportunities for both nations.

In her post on X, she wrote, "Congratulations to Narendra Modi who today becomes the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in the history of India.
