Militants Surrender in Manipur

In a significant development, 42 members of the Kangleipak Communist Party (People's War Group), which is banned, surrendered to security forces in Manipur on Tuesday, according to police reports.

The event took place at a homecoming ceremony attended by Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh, organized collaboratively by the state Home Department and the Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South) at their headquarters located in Mantripukhri, Imphal.

Authorities revealed that the militants surrendered a total of 28 firearms, which included AK-series rifles, rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), pistols, and various other military-grade items such as grenades, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), detonators, ammunition, and communication equipment.

These former militants will be provided rehabilitation support under the Central Government's Revised Scheme for Surrender-cum-Rehabilitation of Militants in the North East States, established in 2018.
