Details Emerge from the Flydubai Incident

Jerusalem: On Friday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu disclosed that the individual involved in the Flydubai incident had been radicalized and aimed to crash the aircraft with its passengers.

Netanyahu stated, "As time goes on, the details are becoming clearer. Yaniv and his brave colleagues averted a catastrophe akin to 9/11. The assailant was radicalized and intended to bring down the plane with everyone aboard," as reported by his office on X.

He further emphasized, "We are currently investigating whether he was part of a larger scheme, and those responsible will face severe consequences," in a video message released by his office.

Previously, Mohammed bin Zayed, an advisor to the UAE President, commended Indian Flydubai pilot Smit Machchhar for his bravery and professionalism during what he termed a "dangerous terrorist act" on Wednesday.

"The Indian pilot at Flydubai, Smit Machchhar, deserves immense recognition for exemplifying courage and responsibility amid a perilous situation. His professionalism and moral integrity in such dire circumstances make him a true hero," Gargash expressed on X.

"Rather than simplifying the events or endorsing conspiracy theories, it is crucial to remain vigilant and cautious in addressing the threats posed by extremism and terrorism," he added.

The UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Thursday that a specialized team of public prosecutors has been assigned to investigate the incident and ascertain its details and causes.

"The Ministry underscored that the UAE judicial authorities hold jurisdiction over the investigation, as the aircraft is registered in the UAE and operates under its flag. Therefore, UAE law applies to crimes committed on board, regardless of their location," the statement noted.

The ministry also indicated that the inquiry will explore all facets of the incident, including its motives and any potential links to terrorist activities or premeditated plans.

"The UAE expressed gratitude to the Saudi authorities for their cooperation and management of the situation," the ministry concluded.
