What Led to K.N. Rajanna's Resignation? A Closer Look at the Political Drama in Karnataka
Political Turmoil in Karnataka
Bengaluru: K.N. Rajanna, a former minister and ally of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, has stated that the Congress leadership has misinterpreted his comments regarding alleged electoral fraud. He plans to travel to Delhi to address this misunderstanding with national leaders.
Rajanna expressed, “I will meet with the high command in Delhi. I have been informed that there is a misunderstanding regarding my statements. I will go along with senior ministers and party MLAs to clarify the situation. I will follow the guidance of our national leadership.”
Previously serving as the State Cooperation Minister, Rajanna was asked to resign following his comments about Rahul Gandhi's press conference concerning voter fraud. He remarked, “If there was indeed voter fraud, the state Congress should have raised this issue much earlier.”
In response, Deputy Leader of Opposition and BJP MLA Arvind Bellad noted that Rajanna's resignation was prompted by his remarks against Rahul Gandhi. He accused Shivakumar of pressuring Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to take action against Rajanna.
Bellad claimed, “This is a significant setback for Siddaramaiah, orchestrated by Shivakumar.” He suggested that this move signals to Siddaramaiah that his time as Chief Minister is nearing its end. Bellad also mentioned that Rajanna had previously accused Shivakumar of attempting to ensnare him in a honeytrap, which may have influenced the decision to seek his resignation.
BJP MLC C.T. Ravi criticized the Congress party, asserting that “dictatorship is ingrained in their DNA,” and that dissent is not tolerated within the party. He stated, “By compelling the resignation of Cooperation Minister K.N. Rajanna, Congress has once again shown that honesty has no place in their ranks.”
Ravi further alleged that Rajanna, a leader of the Valmiki community, was forced to resign for speaking the truth, emphasizing that the party is dominated by one family, and anyone who challenges their authority faces similar consequences.
