Vibrant Gujarat Conference Sparks Dialogue on Fisheries


Rajkot: On Sunday, a series of seminars aimed at enhancing collaboration between businesses and government entities took place in Gujarat, following the inauguration of the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) at Marwadi University by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.


An official highlighted that a focused panel discussion was conducted under the theme 'Building a Future-Ready Fisheries Sector in Gujarat: Opportunities, Challenges and Sustainable Solutions.'


This session gathered fish exporters and entrepreneurs to discuss vital topics including fishing practices, fish processing, export strategies, technological adoption in fisheries, deep-sea fishing, methods to boost fish production, and the challenges faced by fishermen and boat owners. They also explored government incentives for exports and welfare schemes for fishermen, along with the supportive role of local offices.


During the conference, a Fish Supplier Company formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) valued at Rs 11.49 crore, highlighting the increasing investment and dedication to enhancing Gujarat’s fisheries sector.


The event saw participation from notable figures such as Agriculture Department Additional Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Solanki, Fisheries Department Commissioner Vijay Kharadi, NDFB representative S. Kannappan, entrepreneur Manojbhai Sharma, and Jagdish Fofandi, along with various other entrepreneurs and senior officials.


After the inauguration, the Prime Minister toured a vast exhibition spanning 18,000 square meters. At the 'Enterprise Excellence Pavilion,' he reviewed contributions from prominent organizations like Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Essar, Nyara Energy, and Jyoti C.N.C., emphasizing their significance in the nation’s economic development. He also praised Gujarat’s expanding industrial capabilities and technological innovations.


At the 'Ocean of Opportunities' Pavilion, which showcased the immense potential of Saurashtra and Kutch’s coastal areas, the Prime Minister expressed significant interest.


Presentations by the Gujarat Maritime Board on the blue economy, along with innovative technologies from stalls like Reliance New Energy, garnered substantial attention. The exhibition also illustrated the balance between industrial advancement and environmental sustainability.
