What Happened to Suvendu Adhikari's Convoy? Ministry of Home Affairs Investigates Alleged Attack
Investigation Launched into Attack on BJP Leader's Convoy
Kolkata: The Ministry of Home Affairs has requested a report from the office of Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of Opposition in West Bengal, regarding an alleged attack on his convoy in Paschim Medinipur, as stated by a BJP representative on Sunday.
The BJP leader mentioned that Adhikari's office is in the process of compiling video evidence of the incident to present to the Union Home Ministry.
The Ministry has expressed interest in understanding the details surrounding the attack on Adhikari, and his office is preparing a comprehensive report that will be submitted shortly.
On Saturday, Adhikari accused supporters of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) of assaulting him in the Paschim Medinipur district.
He claimed that around 8:20 PM, while returning from Purulia along Chandrakona Road, he was brutally attacked by TMC activists, as he shared in a post on X, along with a video of the event.
Adhikari alleged that the attack occurred in front of police officers who did not intervene, describing it as an attack on all opposition voices within the state.
He further asserted that the TMC's actions reflect their desperation, resorting to violence due to the growing discontent among the populace.
According to Adhikari, his security team and local BJP supporters attempted to clear the area, which led to a confrontation. There has been no immediate comment from the police or the TMC regarding these allegations.
