Incident Overview

Ranchi witnessed a troubling incident early Wednesday when the RSS claimed that petrol bombs were thrown at their office located in Nivaranpur, within the jurisdiction of the Chutia police station. This alarming event occurred around 12:30 AM, prompting local authorities to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to delve into the matter.

According to Snigdha Ranjan, who oversees media coordination for the RSS in Ranchi, the attack involved petrol bombs aimed at their premises. However, police officials have stated that the precise nature of the objects will only be determined following a thorough investigation.

Ranchi's Senior Superintendent of Police, Rakesh Ranjan, mentioned that remnants of two glass bottles were found at the scene. A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) has been summoned to analyze the contents of these bottles. Ranjan cautioned against jumping to conclusions regarding the presence of petrol until forensic results are available.

Union Minister Sanjay Seth characterized the incident as a 'serious conspiracy' intended to disrupt the tranquility of the state capital. He questioned the motive behind such an attack, suggesting it was designed to ignite a fire due to the highly flammable nature of petrol.

Ranchi City Deputy Superintendent of Police, KV Raman, reported that investigators have scrutinized CCTV footage from the vicinity and have detected some suspicious activities. Initial findings indicate that the suspects may have utilized a private taxi, with two individuals potentially involved. Authorities are actively pursuing various leads.

In response to the incident, a SIT has been established to conduct a comprehensive investigation. The FSL team and a dog squad have also been enlisted to assist in the inquiry.

Babulal Marandi, the Leader of the Opposition in the assembly, expressed grave concern over the incident. He has reached out to the Ranchi Superintendent of Police, the Deputy Commissioner, and the Director General of Police, urging them to identify and apprehend those responsible. Marandi has also called for a permanent police outpost to be set up near the RSS office to enhance security measures.
