Putin Concludes Visit to India After BRICS Summit

New Delhi: On Sunday, Russian President Vladimir Putin departed from New Delhi following his participation in the 18th BRICS Summit, which was hosted by India.

Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, was present to bid farewell to President Putin.

Singh expressed on X, "It was an honor to see off H.E. President Vladimir Putin at Delhi airport after his visit for the BRICS Summit. India highly values its Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership with Russia and is dedicated to enhancing our diverse cooperation further."

During the two-day summit held at Bharat Mandapam, leaders from BRICS nations and partner countries convened to discuss various global issues.

In his address at the summit on Saturday, Putin emphasized that the BRICS partnership is founded on principles of equality, mutual respect, and consideration of each member's cultural and historical context. He noted that the influence of BRICS on the global stage is steadily increasing.

"The association has rightly positioned itself as a key player in global governance, and the future of international politics, security, economics, and humanitarian cooperation largely hinges on our collective decisions and actions," Putin stated.

He highlighted the significance of the BRICS session focused on 'Inclusive Global Governance and Strengthening Multilateralism.'

Putin remarked, "In an emerging multipolar world, it is crucial to collaborate in reinforcing true multilateralism, engaging more nations in global governance, and addressing pressing challenges to promote international peace and stability for shared prosperity."

Putin arrived in New Delhi on Friday for the summit and engaged in bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The two leaders explored cooperation in vital sectors and addressed ongoing conflicts in West Asia and the Black Sea region.

PM Modi presented Putin with a Russian translation of the Thirukkural, authored by the renowned Tamil poet and philosopher Thiruvalluvar, which encompasses significant insights on agriculture and farmers.

As per the Ministry of External Affairs, both leaders assessed the progress in various domains of bilateral cooperation, including political, economic, defense, energy, space, skill mobility, and people-to-people interactions.

They acknowledged the significance of Russia's International Industrial Exhibition 'INNOPROM India,' which took place in India for the first time from September 9-11, 2026, emphasizing its role in enhancing trade and industrial relations. The leaders also visited the exhibition and engaged with participants.
